2nd Annual Dragon Boat Festival

The SD Alliance for Asian Pacific Islander Americans and the SD Dragon Boat Team are co-sponsoring San Diego's 2nd annual Dragon Boat Festival on Saturday, October 21, 2006, from 9 am to 5 pm at Playa Pacifica (north of the Hilton) in Mission Bay Park.

On water, dragon boat teams coached by the international-award-winning Dragon Boat Team race to the beat of drums ? an unparalleled team-building experience!

On land, the Alliance holds its 5th Heritage Festival. The Alliance works to serve San Diego County's Asian Pacific Islander communities, now more than 300,000 strong and the County's 2nd largest minority group. The Heritage Festival is where we celebrate the diversity and cultural richness of our Asian Pacific Islander communities. We showcase performances from the traditional (Japanese koto, and Balinese, Cambodian and Taiwanese dances) to the contemporary (break-dancing and new music). We feature Asian artists, crafts, cuisines, and information about our Asian Pacific Islander communities.

The San Diego Dragon Boat Festival celebrates San Diego's diversity and cultural richness, dragon boat racing and team-building, and San Diego by the Bay as the perfect setting for a festival that brings everyone together.

The festival is free and open to the public. Fees for 16-paddler dragon boat teams are $640 ($40/person). High school and college student teams are half-price ($320/16-paddlers, IDs required).
